Fixing Updater Script Error [Yunique]

What is a updater script?

To install any ROM through a custom recovery, you need to have an updater-script. It’s basically a few lines of commands that tells your Android recovery what to do. These files are also widely used with Aroma Installer and other scripting engines, but of course everyone knows this already. However, a problem arises when you need to create your own updater-script from scratch, as it’s not always generated during the build process.

Most frequent error that I have seen is the "Updater script error"

To solve this:-

Extract the .zip package of the ROM

Go to META-INF >> com >> google >> android.

Then open "updater-script" binary in Notepad++.

Delete the first line. which says this:-

assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "YUNIQUE" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "YUNIQUE" || abort("This package is for device: YUNIQUE; this device is " + getprop("ro.product.device") + "."););

After this repack(add to archive) the contents of the folder extracted.

Note:- Add to zip archive and archive the contents of the folder not the folder directly.

How to Handle BootLoops or Soft Bricks

How to know if there is a Bootloop?

Sometimes after you flash a ROM and reboot it takes much more time than usual to boot because it takes time to remake the cache and load into the memory all Apps. But when you see the Boot Animation for 5mins or more you should be sure that it is a bootloop. So Below is the way to handle such cases and its not a situation to panic. We can also term bootloop as SoftBrick. When you see that the ROM doesn't bootup after 5mins then you should turn off your phone otherwise if you leave your phone in the same state the SoC may heatup much more and may lead to damage the chipset.
So the first step that you should take is to turn it off. In Yu Yunique you can do this by two ways. Either hold Volume Up + Power Button otherwise hold Volume Down + Power Button. From these two ways any one of them must work.

Prerequisites:

  1. Download and install required USB Drivers on PC. Alternative.
  2. Install and setup ADB and Fastboot drivers – Windows | Mac.
  3. Unlock Bootloader on YU Yunique.

How to Defeat a Bootloop?

  1. After you turn off your phone. Boot into Fastboot mode by pressing and holding Volume Up + Power Button(For Yunqiue).
  2. Then Connect the Phone to PC. Note:- You must have had installed the Fastboot and ADB Drivers.
  3. Hold Shift and Right click on ADB and Fastboot Folder and Select 'Open Command Window Here' option.
  4. In Command Window, Type:- fastboot devices
  5. You must see some a combination of alphabet and numbers written on the screen that should show up. If not you must properly connect the device to PC, properly install the drivers and Reboot your PC and then try again.
  6. Then download CyanogenMod Recovery from the give link. Download
  7. Then Copy the file inside the ADB and Fastboot Folder and rename it to cmrecovery.img
  8. Type in Command Window:- fastboot boot cmrecovery.img
  9. Then After about 5sec you can see CyanogenMod recoery on your phone.
  10. From there Select: Wipe Data/Factory Reset > Yes.
  11. Then Select: Wipe cache partition
  12. Finally Click on: Reboot System Now.

Now ENJOY!! Finally the ROM will boot perfectly. If any other problem occurs then do not forget to notify me in the Comment Section Below **.

How to Install Stock Recovery in Yu Yunique

What is Recovery?
Recovery is a limited boot mode, independent of your normal Android operating system. In the stock recovery, you can install OTA update packages, wipe data, and wipe the cache partition. The feature set available depends on the specific recovery installed. In general, stock recoveries (which come pre-installed on your device) are the most limited. They typically only allow manufacturer updates to be performed and remain mostly invisible to the end user.

Preparations:
  1. To avoid data loss while rooting, it is always recommended to have a backup of all of your important data and stuff. Backup SMS | Contacts | Call Logs etc.
  2. Enable USB Debugging from Developer Options.
  3. Charge Yunique to at least 65% before you proceed.
  4. Download and install required USB Drivers on PC. Alternative.
  5. Install and setup ADB and Fastboot drivers – Windows | Mac.
  6. Unlock Bootloader on YU Yunique.
DisclaimerI don’t take any responsibility for any damage to your YU Yunique and we recommend to proceed with the below steps only if you understand what you are doing and proceed at your own risk.

How to install CyanogenMod Recovery (CM Recovery) in Yunqiue

What is Recovery?
Recovery is a limited boot mode, independent of your normal Android operating system. In the stock recovery, you can install OTA update packages, wipe data, and wipe the cache partition. The feature set available depends on the specific recovery installed. In general, stock recoveries (which come pre-installed on your device) are the most limited. They typically only allow manufacturer updates to be performed and remain mostly invisible to the end user. Simple recovery, used by the CyanogenMod Installer, is another limited recovery meant to perform only basic tasks, like updates and wipes. Custom recoveries, described below, offer a much larger suite of tools. The most important of these is the ability to make a full device backup which can later be restored if Android misbehaves in an unrecoverable fashion.

Preparations:
  1. To avoid data loss while rooting, it is always recommended to have a backup of all of your important data and stuff. Backup SMS | Contacts | Call Logs etc.
  2. Enable USB Debugging from Developer Options.

AOSP [AOSParadox] MarshMallow 6.0.1 Pure Marshmallow [Vanilla Based] for YU Yunique

AOSParadox 2.1 for YU Yunique
What's CodeAurora Forums ?
Code Aurora Forum (CAF) is a consortium of companies with projects serving the mobile wireless industry. Software projects it concerns itself with are e.g. Android for MSM, Femto Linux Project, LLVM, MSM WLAN and Linux-MSM. Code Aurora is basically AOSP plus all Qualcomm specific enhancements and optimization.

What's AOSParadox Project ?
AOSParadox is a vanilla ROM. Our goal is to pick the least amount of commits possible on AOSP code. Why trying to add features, when CodeAurora provide us with chipset's specific sources ?
At the opposite of most of ROMs that you can find, the trees are made by oursleves to be integrated in this new ROM type.

What should I be aware of ?
Everything is custom and made to work with CodeAurora Forum's sources so customs kernels won't boot (ramdisk is different, selinux rules too, ...).

What doesn't work ?
  • Tell me
My few personnal additions on top of AOSP:
  • Custom Hardware Keys binding
  • 1080p recording from camera
  • "Reboot" and "Plane Mode" in Power Menu
  • Marshamllow Wallpaper
  • Marshamllow Bootanimation
  • Renaming the OTA package
  • Materialized Icons
  • File Manager
